Tale of Twins Volume 2: New Beginning – Long Journey

book cover

When the Earth Fights Back

As someone who really enjoys futuristic mysteries, the story immediately caught my attention because it offers something very different than the usual dystopian or technology-driven future. The discovery of Wakantankium is fascinating on its own, but really made the story stand out for me was the idea that this incredible resource isn’t simply something waiting to be mined, sold, or controlled. It feels alive, and the families connection to it gives the mystery a spiritual dimension I wasn’t expecting.

A Monumental, Vision Driven Epic Rooted in Land, Legacy, and Lakota Sovereignty

Tale of Twins is one of the most ambitious and deeply rooted American epics I’ve ever read. Joe Kidd blends Lakota prophecy, Indigenous sovereignty, geology, spirituality, and family legacy into a story that feels both ancient and urgently contemporary. This isn’t…

Twins, Treaties, and the World Below the World

Joe Kidd opens this one in a place most novels never bother to go — deep inside Lakota oral tradition. The Prologue, “The Four Times Broken, The Fifth Time Chosen,” traces four generations of twin births across the plains: Tȟašína Lúta (Red Blanket), the brothers…

Tale of Twins Book 1

Tale of Twins: Book One – Revelation by Joe Kidd is an ambitious, sprawling narrative that operates at the intersection of Indigenous cultural heritage, generational destiny, personal redemption, and grand-scale enterprise.

An Ambitious and Original Sci-Fi-Fantasy Story

Tale of Twins by Joe Kidd combines science fiction, fantasy, Indigenous tradition, and family history into a story with an unusually expansive vision. What I enjoyed most was how the larger mysteries develop through Tommy’s personal connection to the land rather than simply being presented as a scientific discovery.

Twins Revelation

The meeting between TJ and Tommy during the blizzard is an effective way to pull the reader into the story. Discovering that the stranger sharing TJ’s face is actually his identical twin immediately raises questions about how the brothers were separated and what else…

Tale of Twins: From a blizzard to a breathing prairie

Tale of Twins begins with a blizzard and ends with the prairie breathing. In between, it asks the biggest American questions: Who does the land belong to? Who gets to stand at the center of their own story? And what happens when a discovery is so big it could either save a people or destroy them?

Ambitious and unique

Tale of Twins is the first of three books, and Joe Kidd swings big. The core idea a Lakota family finding the biggest resource deposit ever and having to decide what to do with it could have just been about politics and corporations. Instead, Kidd makes it about…

A Thoughtful Story of Family, Land, and a Legacy That Refuses to Stay Buried

Joe Kidd’s Tale of Twins is an ambitious and deeply layered story that blends family history, mystery, Indigenous traditions, environmental concerns, and the discovery of something extraordinary beneath the Kansas prairie. What impressed me most is that the story isn’t simply about two twins being reunited. Their reunion becomes the doorway into a much larger mystery involving land, water, identity, and promises made generations earlier.

Tale of Twins: Volume Two – New Beginning – Long Journey is the breathtaking continuation of Joe Kidd’s epic American saga a novel of geological wonder, spiritual reckoning, family obligation, and the most extraordinary discovery in the history of human civilization, found by the people who always belonged to the land above it.

Five hundred meters below the Kansas plain, sealed within a cavern system that is itself the scar of an asteroid impact eight hundred miles wide, the Lakota family uncovers a world that has been waiting for them since before the human species existed.

A freshwater sea 682 miles long, 327 miles wide, nearly five miles deep at its center containing one hundred and fifty-eight times the volume of all five Great Lakes combined. Alive with microbial life that has been evolving in sealed isolation for tens of millions of years. Sitting directly below a region where the Ogallala Aquifer is failing and the communities above it are watching their future drain away one foot per year.

An oil lake of staggering proportion, its ceiling embedded with rubies and sapphires and emeralds following vein networks through obsidian rock, the gem field extending across fifty thousand square miles of underground ceiling above crude oil reserves that exceed every proven petroleum deposit on the surface of the earth.

An asteroid iron, nickel, lead, sixty-nine miles wide sitting in the center of the crater it made when it arrived. Carrying in its depths a mineral that no instrument has previously described: Wakantankium, an eighth crystal system, denser than any natural material known to science, interacting with light at the quantum level in ways that existing physics cannot account for.

And a road.
